Flare's community was built around personal safety, which meant people would be sharing things they wouldn't post anywhere else. The page had to earn that before asking for a signup: state the guidelines plainly, make privacy and confidentiality explicit, and make clear this was a place for support, vulnerability, and authenticity.
-
The page: Designed and built in Webflow, with guidelines covering empathy, respect, vulnerability, and authenticity, a commitment to confidentiality, and a plain description of how moderation worked.
The funnel: Typeform collecting signups, Zapier routing to Circle for the community and Klaviyo for email, so someone who joined landed in the right place with the right sequence rather than in a spreadsheet.
-
A front door that set expectations before anyone arrived, so every one of the members who fueled 450% growth had read the guidelines before they got in.
A signup funnel that ran itself, routing new members to the right place with the right email sequence instead of a spreadsheet and a manual invite.
Built by one person with no engineering team, which is most of why I now tell small teams they have more capacity than they think.

Most communities put their guidelines behind the login. Putting them on the front door impacted who joined and how they showed up once they got there.
