Alexandria "Alex" Fuertes is drawn to work that lights people up, and feels called to be an “amplifier” of this work. She partners with the leaders of nonprofits, schools, civic groups, and early-stage teams whose hearts are in what they do, and helps them turn what they believe into how they operate. She is a consultant, an educator, and a builder. The people she works with leave feeling empowered and more capable.
She arrived at this work after nearly a decade inside high-growth tech, most recently as the first Community Lead at Scale AI and then Community Lead at Lovable, one of the fastest-growing AI startups in the world. Before that she was employee number four at Flare, a company founded to prevent interpersonal violence and help people feel safe, where she created its first community, a space for survivors and anyone thinking about personal safety. She went on to serve as Fractional Head of Community at Keepler, a platform for people getting to know themselves and, through that, one another. Her earliest years in tech spanned sales, operations, and marketing at high-growth startups, which is where she learned to see people, programs, and processes as one system rather than three separate entities.
Alex now works with organizations committed to equity, justice, and flourishing through education, environmental stewardship, and support for underserved and marginalized communities. Teaching is where Alex feels most herself and experiences a flow state. She coaches public speaking and debate all around the Bay Area, primarily at an Oakland nonprofit supporting underserved youth, where she also teaches AI literacy. What she cares about most is helping leaders connect to the power of their purpose and their voice.
She finds AI interesting and believes there are meaningful uses for it, but she also believes the industry around it is out of balance, and that it treats people as the cost of progress rather than the point of it. Rather than spend her energy attempting to deconstruct that system from the inside, she has left in pursuit of building alternatives: ways of working, connecting, and being in community that put people first. She is moved by work that reduces suffering, inspires loving kindness, makes room for good things to grow, and reminds us to have fun!
Alex lives in the San Francisco Bay Area because she felt called there. She continues to follow those calls, trusting her intuition to take her where her heart and her work are most needed. She credits her growth and flourishing to the generous people who supported her along the way and shared their knowledge, experience, and authentic selves with her, many of them from communities she loves deeply.
She builds for them now.
